Hi, my name is Zack Lieberman. Welcome.
I’m a filmmaker and digital artist/tinkerer based out of Brooklyn (I’m from Seattle via LA, been in NYC for about six years).
I co-created the Webby Award-winning online series The West Side and was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film (alongside fellow co-creator Koo); the magazine heralded The West Side as “ingenious low-budget independent filmmaking that just happens to be viewable only on the Web.”
As a result of The West Side’s success, we were added to the Untied Talent Agency roster and spent the next two years in Studio “development hell,” trying to keep sacred our vision for a groundbreaking interactive transmedia property. With my head firmly banging this Studio wall, I’m meanwhile launching an equally ambitious, though wholly independent project: MAX & CHARLIE.
Beyond this independence, I have a professional background in design, film, web, and interactive development, and was instrumental in the launch of numerous high-profile projects as a Senior Producer at MTV; I most recently spent my days leading digital media production for an acclaimed Sony Pictures Television property and won an Emmy Award as part of this team.
I speak regularly on panels discussing the state of new media and I’ve firmly committed myself to a career of pushing the frontier of transmedia storytelling. I’ve most recently gone “all-in” on 3D and have started concentrating all efforts toward the development of a feasible 3D workflow for independent filmmakers and digital content creators.
With that goal in mind, I’ve spent the past year experimenting with, developing for, and writing on the future of independent 3D. Using an array of emerging 3D technology, I’ve shot and produced high-fashion and experimental 3D photography, art, and music videos, and in a good-will effort to help bring online 3D mainstream, most recently created FREE 3D GLASSES DOT COM. Since its launch, the service has sent thousands of free anaglyph 3D glasses to more than thirty countries worldwide; the site has recently partnered with the largest US-based 3D glasses manufacturer as an in-kind supplier and has business development in place to provide the backbone of marketing support for major 3D motion pictures and independent 3D films alike.
A bit more about me and the site:
- I am a co-founder of Exit Strategy, a transmedia production company. Read more about us →
- I do a lot of web design, development, and production; this site is the latest of what has seemed to be an always-under-construction online “identity” project (version
1.01.12.0) - I’ll mostly be posting things that I find interesting … a lot of 3D, some articles, books, products, etc. I’ll also use the space to post the occasional photo I’ve taken or something else I’m working on.
- zdLdz (and zdlldz.com) is a random name for a site, but my initials are Z, D, and L; zdLdz is just an anagram of my initials that I always liked. So yeah, I went with it.
- And yes, this site used to be available at zdLdz.com. But now it’s zdlldz.com. Read about the change →
The site itself is a work in progress (all design and development is my own), so please pay no mind should you stumble upon some whackness. Enjoy flipping through the site, and please contact me if you have any ideas/suggestions/thingstosay/whatever.
And don’t forget to check out some 3D! Here’s a random anaglyph of mine to whet your appetite…
